Description

Slender, functional and surprisingly affordable, the 1200dpi CanoScan LiDE 25 complements any creative environment. It draws all the power it needs from its USB connection, no power adaptor required! Just 38mm thick, the extraordinarily slender CanoScan LiDE 25 is the obvious choice for the uncluttered desk. Because of LiDE technology's tiny appetite for power, it does not require any clumsy power cords - a single USB cable connected to your computer is the only lead you'll ever need.

Jargon

DPI

Dots per inch; standard of measurement for the resolution of images. The higher the DPI, the higher the resolution.

Flatbed

A type of image scanner that resembles a small photocopier. Place a document face down on the glass scanning bed and the scan-head is moved across it, building up a digital image as it goes.

Mbps

(Millions of bits per second) It is a measure of bandwidth. A unit of information transfer rate. While an ethernet connection can run at 10 Mbps the average household modem still runs at 56.6 kbps (kilobits per second).

Twain

Protocol for exchanging information between applications and devices such as scanners and digital cameras. TWAIN makes it possible for digital cameras and software to communicate with each other on PC.

WCDMA

WCDMA is Wideband CDMA. This is the technology for wideband wireless access supporting 3G cell phone services, and allows very high-speed multimedia services like wireless Internet access and videoconferencing.

An excellent product. Very good value for money and slim and stylish. The reproduction of documents was better than more expensive scannners I have had from other makers.
